First of all it is important to realize that all health benefits of herbs are stronger when you buy them fresh and preferably also biological. Dried herbs will have the same benefits, though they will be less. Same goes for flavor: fresh herbs always have more flavor than dried ones.

1. Turmeric

There are many studies that prove the benefits of turmeric on the body and the brain. In India they have been using the herb for thousands of years in food and medicine. Because turmeric contains curcumin, it has an anti-inflammatory effect and it is a strong antioxidant.
It is also believed that cancer cells can be destroyed within 24 hours by adding a dose of Turmeric. In India, where the herb is used very often, certain types of cancer are found way less often than in the United States. We’re talking about for example colon, prostate and lung cancer. Last but not least turmeric is also believed to be good for the brain, as it can fight Alzheimer’s disease.
